Red Diamond Runner
with Orange Shadow

Block print on paper, 19" x 26"
by Francis Pavy

To many people the artistic process is a mystery,” writes Lafayette artist Francis X. Pavy on his website. “People constantly ask me ‘how do you you get your ideas?’ They want to know the how and the why, the inspiration and the information. I’m hoping to peel back some layers so people can see what my artistic process is like and have a better understanding of how I make art.”
“Red Diamond Runner” hails from Pavy’s Works on Paper series, works which vibrate with the physical and musical rhythms of south Louisiana. Some are entirely printed with blocks; others incorporate airbrushed, painted and drawn elements, layer upon layer, building up a body of symbolism through which Pavy explores the culture around him. Francis Pavy exhibits at Arthur Roger Gallery in New Orleans. More at www.pavy.com.
