A Lovely Deal in Old Town Alexandria

Travel discount sites are popping up everywhere these days it seems. You can sign up for location specific deals from Groupon and Living Social, which I did on my last trip to Las Vegas. I scored a great deal on a show and a meal that way. Among the newer entries is the cloyingly spelled but otherwise cool SniqueAway website. Right now they have a terrific deal at the Lorien Hotel and Spa in old town Alexandria, Virginia. I had my first chance to explore there on a recent visit to see my daughter in D. C. Great shops, charming restaurants, and a lovely waterfront. The Lorien is a Kimpton Hotel, one of my favorite groups with great design and all sorts of nifty little features at each of its properties. At the Lorien that includes free bike loans to explore. It's a five minute walk from a Metro line that will take you into Washington. And this deal gets you a room for $99 a night. You'll need to sign up to get into the site, but for me their deals are worth the extra stuff in my email inbox.
