So you think we've had a mild winter eh? It seems almost everyday my friend Adam, who moved to Miami a few years ago, sends me another stunning photo from his winter garden like this one. This is an Ixoras, which I've never even heard of, but these beautiful blooms sure make me jealous. I was there for a visit about this time last year—a week of sitting in his garden enjoying mango drinks and his flowers, riding bikes through the beautiful Coral Cables neighborhood where he lives, looking for manatees in the canals; and hanging out on Calle Ocho watching old Cuban men play dominoes. Magical. If you can tear yourself away from the Carnival festivities for a few days, American Airlines has a last minute weekend fare from New Orleans to Miami departing this Saturday and returning as late as Tuesday for under $200 round trip, including all the taxes and fees.
