November 2011. A Lakefront Renaissance

Fitzgerald’s, Swanson’s and Bruning’s were all once part of the bustling restaurant scene along New Orleans’ Lake Pontchartrain Lakefront that dwindled away—but seems now to be returning. Next to the Landry’s Restaurant built there a few years ago, Duke’s on the Basin will soon break ground with a restaurant, a fuel dock and an open-air market featuring seafood caught by local fishermen. Chef Duke LoCicero’s plans for the restaurant include modestly priced seafood in a space adorned with historical photographs of the area. The restaurant is projected to open next May.
