I'm at once charmed by and wary of Tredici Bakery, Baton Rouge's newest confectionary. As a resident of the Capital Heights neighborhood, I enjoy a lot of walks, taking advantage of the one-way street and the clearly lined lanes. And I have learned that I am powerless at stopping before cute things. I wave at babies, I coo at my neighbors' dogs, I even stop to sigh before flowers.
So a little café with wrought-iron tables and display cases of colorful sweets crusted with sugar? I'm in so much trouble.
It won't be long before I work my way through each scone, muffin, macaron, Omigod, are those little pies?, and cupcake, sipping River Road coffees and tea between each bite. But the blame, and the pleasure, are all mine. Welcome to the neighborhood, Tredici Bakery.
