This Second Saturday event in Natchez' historic downtown district keeps boutiques and galleries open for extended hours (until 7 pm), shopping specials, exhibit openings, wine, cheese, and live music. In September, families are invited to join in new afternoon activities for a special "Hot Tots and Crazy Day" event. From 1 pm until 4 pm, kiddos can search for the Natchey and Natchette cartoon characters in local stores, with prizes to win along the way. Other family-friendly additions this month include sidewalk sales of snow cones and candy apples, calliope music, face painting and more. (601) 238-8325.
- For its part, the Rolland Golden Gallery will feature the artist's Nudes series. 419 Main Street, with wine, cheese, and cookies to munch on. (601) 304-5500.
- At ArtsNatchez, Doris Rodriguez will be the featured artist. A member of the Mississippi Artist Guild, Rodriguez works primarily in oils to create traditional and abstract florals, still life, and landscapes. 425 Main Street.
- The Natchez Art Association will feature new artwork inspired by this month's theme, Teen. While there, be sure to inquire about their upcoming workshops on oil painting, drawing, and a calder inspired kinetic mobile. 118 N. Pearl Street, Suite 105. (601) 870-7717 or natchezartassociation.org.
