Al Berard Music Festival
NUNU Arts and Culture Collective 1510 Courtableau Highway, Arnaudville, Louisiana 70512
The inaugural Al Berard Music Festival honors the life of the late Cajun musician Al Berard, who was a pillar of his community and a mentor for music lovers everywhere. His passion was to teach everyone he met about his love for music and for the Cajun/Creole culture. Since that seems a perfectly good excuse for a music festival, this one will be held December 3 at the NUNU Arts & Culture Collective, with proceeds to benefit the Al Berard Memorial Music Fund. Organized by Al Berard's daughter, Laura Huval, the festival will feature live music from Horace Trahan & the Ossun Express, Major Handy & Lil Buck Senegal, Michael Juan Nunez, Lafayette Talented Music Students, and Traiteurs Reunion with guitarist Sonny Landreth. For activities, expect a silent auction, food & beverages, a zydeco dance competition, festival merchandise, a Cajun jam session, artisan booths and exhibitions, and children's activities. $10 admission; 12 and younger free. alberard.com.
