The Grand Gueule/Lake Dauterive Area of the Atchafalaya Basin provides the backdrop for this special paddle tour, led by Atchafalaya Basinkeeper Dean Wilson. The Basinkeeper program strives to preserve the ecosystems of the Basin, and Wilson will relate to paddlers the many challenges faced by the area. The trip ends at Lake Fausse Point State Park, where participants will be treated to a fish fry. A $50 minimum donation covers the paddles, canoe, flotation devices, along with the guided tour and fish fry--with every penny going to the Atchafalaya Basinkeeper program. Meet at Pack & Paddle at 8 am. Reservations at (337) 232-5854 or packpaddle.com. Visit basinkeeper.org for more information on the program.
