Baton Rouge Traditions: Who We Are
A recent folklife survey has proven what a diverse city Baton Rouge actually is
Capitol Park Museum 660 North 4th Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802
At the Louisiana Book Festival, don't miss the final panel in the Baton Rouge Traditions series, which has explored the results of the recent Baton Rouge Folklife Survey and Baton Rouge Traditions online book, compiled by the Maida Owens and the Louisiana Folklife Program. This panel, led by Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, will recap the previous three events while discussing how the city might act upon the folklife findings to more effectively exhibit its culture. Panelists include Renee Chatelain with the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, Karron Alford with Visit Baton Rouge, Maida Owens with the Louisiana Folklife Program, and Dereck Rovaris, the LSU Diversity Officer. Quilters from The Giving Quilt will have a tent where they will help the public make quilt squares for the Baton Rouge Traditions quilt.
The panel will be held on the second floor of the Capitol Park Museum. More on the Baton Rouge Traditions project at louisianafolklife.org/LFP/BRproject.html as well as in our October 2017 feature article.
