MS here stands for multiple sclerosis, not Mississippi. Though it's to Mississippi you'll go on this two-day cycle event that leads the way from Hammond to McComb and back again, with all proceeds benefiting Louisiana's chapter of the MS Society. More than one thousand cyclists are expected this year to help reach the goal of $800,000. Calm country roads will carry riders seventy-five miles each day, with rest stops every ten to twelve miles. The fully supported ride begins with registration and a light breakfast at 6 am, and departs from SLU at 8 am.
After the first day's ride, Percy Quin State Park will host overnighters, though transportation and bike storage will be available for those who choose to stay in a McComb hotel. Then on Sunday morning, it's back in the saddle at 8 am and back to Hammond. Complete details at (800) 344-4867 or bikemslouisiana.org
