The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will be offering the public canoe program, Paddling Through Time: People & Louisiana’s Wetlands. This program provides a leisurely, guided paddle on Cane Bayou, one of southeast Louisiana’s iconic waterways. Paddlers learn how humans have interacted with and changed the land over time. The guided paddle introduces both the natural and cultural history of the area as well as a basic guide to proper canoeing techniques. Each of the three excursions (October 5, 19, and 26 from 9 am–noon) will last two to three hours and is designed with adults in mind, though children 5 and older may attend. All equipment and canoes are provided. 61389 US Highway 434. Paddlers $10/each; children (ages 5–9) $5/each. Preregistration is required: fws.gov/southeastlouisiana/calendar.html or (985) 882-2025.
