Mad Men isn't the only outlet for admiring the bright and sensational fashions of the Sixties. Hill Memorial Library and LSU Libraries Special Collections host a new exhibition from advertising and fashion photographer Jane McCowan (LSU '34.) Ranging from McCowan's early work at Macy's in the 1950s to her later career as an independent photographer and portraitist in Los Angeles, the collectionâincluding advertisements from the periodâshowcases femininity and aesthetic ideals during the period of social change and turmoil. The library also holds books detailing the history of fashion from ancient times to the 1920s, as well as items exemplifying surprising fashion changes that have occurred over the years. Open to the public MondayâSaturday. (225) 578-6544 or lib.lsu.edu/special for library hours and more information.
