Interior designer Kenneth Brown is the force behind a new fundraising event—a week-long showcase event that has become a staple of the design culture in Los Angeles and throughout the West Coast. The goal is to present a curated selection of interior elements and allow visitors to purchase items below retail price while benefiting a local charity. One of L.A.'s most sought-after designers, Brown blends warm Southern hospitality with clean Southern-California lines. Brown has completed homes for Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Kristen Bell and other A-list celebrities. Brown recently opened a studio in downtown Baton Rouge in the Tessier building. House Beautiful magazine named him to their list of the top 100 designers in America. He has appeared on The Today Show, Tyra, CNN, iVillage Live, Entertainment Tonight, Good Morning America and Fox Morning news. “Being back in Baton Rouge after living in Los Angeles for eighteen years has given me the opportunity to give back to the city that gave so much to me. I enjoy hosting events that allow me to partner with local design enthusiasts while showcasing design pieces that are not readily available in Baton Rouge,” says Brown.
The first event in the series will feature seventeen chairs for sale, representing a wide spectrum of styles, from designers including Paris-based furniture designer Christian Liagre, to Nancy Corzine of Los Angeles. In addition to the curated chairs, Brown has invited gallery owner Ann Connelly to present works that compliment his collection. Everyone wins: Visitors have the opportunity to buy special pieces below retail price while also knowing that a portion of proceeds benefit a local charity—in this case City Year, the education-focused nonprofit that partners with public schools to keep students in school and on track to graduate. The studio will be open to the public from 10 am–5 pm October 4—8 at 342 Lafayette Street. (225) 448-5915 or kennethbrowndesign.com.
