Dirty Rotten Scoundrels - the Musical
Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts slams shut the lid on its spring season with the mischievous musical version of the 1988 film starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine about two con men living on the French Riviera. In it, Lawrence Jameson makes a lavish living talking rich ladies out of their money. A humbler swindler, Freddy Benson plays upon women's compassion with fabricated stories about his grandmother's failing health. After meeting on a train they try to work together, only to find that one small French town just isn't big enough for both of them. So they agree on a settlement: the first to extract $50,000 from a young female target, wins. And the other must leave town. A hilarious battle of cons ensues.
