BREC's Independence Park Theatre is opening its doors to aspiring actors looking to get into the theatre and film industries. Registration is now open for three fall acting classes—Acting 101, Getting Started in the Film Industry and Acting in Film for Kids.
• In the Acting 101 class, students sixteen and older will be introduced to the role of an actor and performance techniques. Students will perform monologues and scene work to develop their acting techniques.
• The Getting Started in the Film Industry class is designed to give participants an informed insight into the film and TV industry. It's a one-day workshop for students ages sixteen and older, that will offer practical advice from industry professionals to help enable students to explore the opportunities available. And importantly, to help identify skills needed to get work in the industry.
• Acting in Film for Kids is designed for children ages seven through twelve, interested in the television/film industry. This class will teach the basics of on-camera acting, camera awareness, on-set etiquette and a discussion about promo materials: headshots, resumes, websites, and so on.
Acting 101 and Acting in Film for Kids courses will take place on Tuesdays, October 1—29. Acting 101 will meet from 5:30 pm–6:30 pm, with Acting in Film for Kids from 6:30 pm–7:30 pm. Tuition is $50. Getting Started in the Film Industry will be a one-day workshop on October 9 from 6 pm–8 pm. $30.
