Five Lesbians Eating Quiche
There's a play title to make you look twice. 5 Lesbians Eating Quiche is a farcical romp set in 1956 as the Susan B. Anthony Society for the Sisters of Gertrude Stein is meeting for their annual quiche breakfast. This year, though, there is an unexpected agenda item—the dropping of atom bombs on their fair city. The normally idyllic gathering is upended when the society’s matriarchs must confront some startling revelations made by the Sisterhood while meeting the fallout from the Red Menace head-on. Will they be able to keep their cool when Communists threaten their idyllic town? Uproarious satire that skewers melodramatic fears during the Cold War and today. 7 pm August 28—30 and September 4—6 at the Center of Performing Arts, 201 North Columbia Street. $27.
