Friday Night Music Club: Susan Cowsill
Covington's Center of Performing Arts brings New Orleans' famous musical talent to the Northshore. Each month a different musical guest plays two sets, punctuated by an intermission at which audience members get to meet the star of the show. This month, it'll be Susan Cowsill and Alex McMurray onstage. Cowsill first entered the pop-culture consciousness at age eight, as the youngest member of the ’60s musical family the Cowsills, who graced the AM airwaves with enduring pop hits like “Hair” and “The Rain, the Park and Other Things,” and who were the real-life inspiration for TV’s Partridge Family. In adulthood Cowsill has emerged as a singer-songwriter of singular emotional insight and musical resonance, first as a key member of alt-roots-pop supergroup the Continental Drifters and more recently on her widely acclaimed second solo album Lighthouse. 8 pm–10 pm at 201 North Columbia Street. $25. Tickets at centerofperformingarts.net. Season tickets are also available at a twenty percent discount. (985) 727-4638.
