The story of lovable, plus-size heroine, Tracey Turnblad, arrives on Opelousas Little Theatre's stage this August. Tracey, whose passion for dancing wins her a spot on the local Baltimore TV dance program, inspires her community to examine its segregationist mentality. Tracy, played by Taylor LaCalle, will be joined by the cast of beloved characters that includes Tracey's sidekick, Penny Pingleton, and her house-dress-wearing, agoraphobic mother Edna. And in a small twist on convention, Edna, played in drag by Gabe Ortego, will be joined by Erika Stanford as Traceyâs wacky dad, Wilbur.
Adam Casey Tate directs a cast of veteran and new actors. Performances on August 1 - 3; 8 - 10, and 15 - 17 with a 7 pm curtain time. August 4, 11, and 18 with a 2 pm curtain time.
