Join Pack & Paddle guide Kevin Wallis for a day hike through the Kincaid Loop Trail, which follows the leafy shores of beautiful Lake Kincaid near Alexandria. The relaxing nine-mile loop is longer than some of the hikes Pack & Paddle leads, but the easy terrain and variety of scenery on the trail make the miles pass quickly. The route will lead the way along the hilly shores of Lake Kincaid before intersecting with the popular Wild Azalea Trail for a short time. Hikers will loop back up through a mixed forest of Loblolly and Longleaf Pine, White Oak and Southern Magnolia, and pass lower lying areas containing Irises, Spider Lillies, Beech and Cypress. A trail lunch will be provided during the hike. Meet at 7 am at Pack & Paddle's store, 601 East Pinhook in Lafayette, to caravan to the trailhead. $40 includes lunch, guide and use of trekking poles, if you like. (337) 232-5854 or packpaddle.com.
