Typographer and jazz musician Dan Vernhettes has compiled an exquisite collection of old photographs, maps, draft registrations, death certificates, record labels, and sheet music covers, all printed on high-grade glossy paper: Jazz Puzzles, a unique retelling of the genre's history from the ground-up. Vernhettes leads a colloquium on the topic as part of the Jazz on the Avenue series at the River Road African American Museum. After the discussion and audience questions, Dan will perform with New Orleans Fiesta, a top-ranked traditional jazz band from Toulouse, France. 2 pm at 406 Charles Street.
