At the age of ninety-two, John Clemmer remains an iconic figure to generations of New Orleans art collectors, students, fellow artists, and friends as well as an active artist. Clemmer started his career at the Arts and Crafts Club of New Orleans, studying with Paul Ninas, Enrique Alferez, and Xavier Gonzales. The bulk of his professional career was spent at Tulane, first in the School of Architecture and later at Newcomb College. LeMieux Galleries will be showing a collection of his recent work, largely unexhibited since 2005, which reflects his signature diversity in both subject matter and media. The exhibit is up from January 4 till February 22 with an opening reception on the 4th from 6 pm–8 pm. 332 Julia Street. (504) 522-5988. lemieuxgalleries.com.
