Leon Redbone describes himself as an entertainer first and foremost but declares that playing music is what he has been called to do. In the seventies Bob Dylan sought him out at the Mariposa Folk Festival, claiming that if he were to ever start a label he would want Redbone to be the first artist he recorded. Which is quite an endorsement. His TV debut was on Saturday Night Live, where he performed a version of "Walking Stick" that catalyzed his career into the rock and folk genres. Although Redbone has phenomenal talent in a wide range of styles and instruments his wide renown stems from his mastery of the acoustic guitar. 7:30 pm at the Manship Theatre, 100 Lafayette Street. $40-$55 tickets from (225) 344-0334 or manshiptheatre.org.
