East Baton Rouge Parish Libraries kicks off its spring reading program, One Book One Community, with a party at the Main Branch Library on Goodwood, celebrating Life on the Mississippi by Mark Twain. Half historical account, half memoir, the book begins with the background of the river, including Twain’s own personal experience with it and how it shaped his nineteenth-century Missouri upbringing. The party promises music, thematically-appropriate food (catfish and Mississippi mud), games for children, literary-themed discussions, a Mark Twain impersonator, and more. Free. ebrpl.com.
