Items from the Ogden Museum of Southern Art's permanent collection will move into the spotlight starting July 11:
⢠Into the Light: A survey of the Ogden's photography collection, including images by E.J. Bellocq, Clarence John Laughlin, William Christenberry, William Eggleston, Shelby Lee Adams, Alec Soth, and many others. On view through January 5, 2014
⢠Will Henry Stevens: Stevens was one of the pioneers of modernism in the American South. From the mid-1930s onward, Stevens combined familiar representational motifs with abstract improvisations to interpret his favorite subjects: the landscapes of coastal Louisiana and the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. This exhibition is drawn from the museum's permanent collection and is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Jessie Poesch, one of the foremost scholars of the art of the American South.
Daily museum hours are 10 am - 5 pm with extended hours on Thursday. Docent-led tours are available on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Closed on Tuesday. 925 Camp Street. ogdenmuseum.org or (504) 539-9616.
