"The concept is simple," wrote Sam Irwin in the March 2012 issue of Country Roads. "You hold your Easter egg in your clenched hand as your opponent knocks his egg against yours. If your egg cracks, you lose."

Each year, in the weeks before Easter, the Cottonport Women's Commission capitalizes on local tradition with the Pockin' (or Knockin') on the Bayou Easter Festival, featuring a 5K run, an Easter Bonnet contest, pirogue races, and the titular, ruthless Pockin' Contest. Will your egg be the last left whole?
