Create Studios hosts a couple of classes that let you view your pet in a whole new light this month. Pop art is the style that draws on motifs from mass culture such as advertising, comic books and mundane cultural objects and applies them to works of art. Andy Warhol was the high priest of the genre, ruling the Pop Art movement with his dachshund, Archie, from his New York studio The Factory in the sixties and seventies. In this class, participants will be guided through the creation of a four-pane pet portrait using bright pop art colors. To participate, send an image of your pet no later than seventy-two hours prior to class. Create Studios is at 3613 Perkins Road. Bring your own "partakables: wine, beer, whatever." $50–$65.
