Have you ever worried that your child is too consumed with modern technology, spending hours at a time in front or a television or clutching an iPad? The Rural Life Museum has the perfect remedy: The Rural Life Apprentice Program. A week-long summer day camp, the Rural Life's program gives "apprentices" the chance to time-travel back, to learn traditional folk arts and skills including candle-making, weaving, blacksmithing, open-hearth cooking, and traditional games that the word "video" does not precede. 8 am–12:30 pm daily. $100 per child. Registration form available here. For more information, contact Steve Ramke, (225)765-2437 or sramke@lsu.edu.
