Musician Bobby Horton can play an extraordinary range of instruments—a talent he applies tonight with a presentation of authentic period music from the Civil War era, representing popular tunes from both the North and the South. Horton, an expert on music of this era, has worked closely with documentarian Ken Burns on many of his historical films. In "Songs and Stories of the Civil War," Horton dresses as a nineteenth century performer and uses period instruments to explore the stories of both the North and the South through the music they loved. 6 pm at the Capitol Park Museum, 660 North Fourth Street. A 5:30 food truck roundup will precede the show. Free. (225) 342-5428. atchafalaya.org.
