Eight scholars—all experts on the Civil War—will be presenting their well-researched perspectives during The Historic New Orleans Collections annual Williams Research Center Symposium. The full-day event is entitled "Home Front, Battlefront: Louisiana in the Civil War" and will cover a broad variety of topics that explore Louisiana's experience during the war. Topics as varied as the flora and fauna of the war years, Lincoln's diplomatic strategies, and Civil War photography will be covered. A reception and viewing of the exhibition, Occupy New Orleans! Voices from the Civil War, precedes the event the evening before. The symposium will be held from 8 am–4 pm and will take place at the Hotel Monteleone, 214 Royal Street. Registration required; rates range from $40–$85. hnoc.org/programs/symposia.html.
