As part of the Manship Guest Artist Series, pianist Washington Garcia performs a program of two of Beethoven’s most beloved and famous compositions—often referred to as Pathétique and Moonlight sonatas. The performances open with J.S. Bach’s fine Prelude and Fugues, the F sharp Minor, from the second book of the Well-Tempered Clavier, and a composition from a fellow countryman, the Ecuadoran composer Enrique Espin Yepez. During the second half of the program the featured work will be Schumann’s colorful and mercurial masterpiece, Carnaval. And to bring events to a rousing close, Garcia will conclude with the Chopin's Heroic Polonaise. 7:30 pm–10 pm at the LSU School of Music Building. $10; $5 for students, faculty, staff, or seniors. music.lsu.edu.
