Yambilee Festival Returns

The natives who orginally occupied the Opelousas area introduced the sweet potato to the settling Frenchmen in the late eighteenth century, and the rest is sweet yam history. This long-running festival retired briefly in 2011, but the fan favorite has found a way to return. The Delta Grand Theatre revives traditional Yambilee activities this year, including an antique car show, diaper derby, queen's pageant, Yam-i-mal contest, and more.
