Old Mandeville's Christmas Past festival will focus this year on the customs of old in England, France and Germany. The targeted time frame is the early 1800s—the era of the City of Mandeville’s Founder Bernard de Marigny. The festival gets underway on Friday evening with a Christmas Cocktail Stroll throughout the historic district from 5 pm until 7 pm (maps will be provided), and then candlelight caroling led by local church choirs at the Trailhead amphitheater. From 9 am until 4 pm on Saturday, three blocks of Girod Street will become a pedestrian esplanade and gallery of English, French, and German seasonal customs. Entertainment, music, skits, period costumes, lectures, arts, crafts, children's activities and more, including international versions of Old St. Nick strolling about. At 4 pm, a Christmas Parade and more caroling will take place on the lakefront. On Facebook as Christmas Past Festival. |
