Earlier this month, OLLI at LSU instructors and a mix of prospective and incoming students gathered to kick off the upcoming semester with an old-fashioned ice cream social at the West Feliciana Parish Library in St. Francisville. A few days later, the first-ever OLLI at LSU Art Show took place at the Goodwood Branch of the East Baton Rouge Parish Library. Social gatherings like these are among activities that are bringing the OLLI at LSU community together to connect and celebrate around educational adventures.
To attend OLLI at LSU courses, field trips and special events, you must be an active OLLI member. An annual membership costs $50 and is valid through June 30, 2027. Once a member, you can register for as many offerings as you’d like across any OLLI at LSU chapter. Additional costs for individual courses, field trips and special events may apply.

OLLI Around South Louisiana
With more than one hundred courses to explore, and four regional chapters including the Lagniappe chapter in Baton Rouge, the Crescent City chapter in New Orleans and Metairie, the Camellia City chapter in Slidell and Covington, and the Felicianas chapter in St Francisville and New Roads, members can choose classes alongside friends and neighbors in convenient locations. Live in New Orleans but see a class you’d like to join in Covington or Baton Rouge? No problem. Regardless of where OLLI at LSU members call home, they’re welcome to join classes taking place in any chapter. A number of courses are also available online. With a broad scope of choices, options exist to fit a wide variety of lifestyles and routines.

Ready to get your hands dirty? This semester the Felicianas chapter will host a Fall Fun with Clay Pottery class (Thursdays, September 24—October 29). Members will learn how to create fall-themed pottery items such as a serving dish, a butter dish and a decorative pumpkin.
History buffs might choose to join the Crescent City chapter’s African Roots and the Culture of New Orleans class (Thursdays, October 8 & 15), as instructor Sandy Hester leads an in-depth introduction to West African ethnic groups in New Orleans, their cultural impact on the city and more.
