Pennington Biomedical Research Center is trying to answer the question: How does eating in an eight-hour window vs. a fourteen-hour window affect your metabolism? Called the CRISP study, this research will answer questions regarding how cardiovascular risk changes in individuals who don’t get enough sleep, depending on when they eat their meals. Participants must be between eighteen and forty-five years old with a BMI of 25–35 and no chronic health conditions. They must normally sleep 6.5 hours a night or less most days of the week and normally eat between fourteen hours or more during the day. Over the course of two months, during fourteen visits—including four overnight stays—study subjects will undergo a series of minor procedures including urine collection, blood pressure monitoring, and glucose monitoring while following prescribed eating periods. The reward? $4,000! To see if you’re eligible, visit pbrc.edu/crisp or contat (225) 763-300 / clinicaltrials@pbrc.edu.
