The ice cream on LSU campus has been the stuff of legend for more than a century now, since the Louisiana Legislature established the iconic herd and creamery in 1904. Though the operation has moved from downtown, to the basement of Coates, to what is now the Nuclear Science Building, and then to the old Dairy Science Building, and more recently to the newly renovated Food Science Building, the recipe has gone unchanged. That fidelity will hold fast in the Dairy Store’s latest move as well, into the Our Lady of the Lake Health and Interdisciplinary Science Center. The relocation will allow for better public access and more space for inventory, including a wider selection of ice cream flavors and toppings.
