Inside Las Brujas, Mid City Baton Rouge's new coffee shop.
Earlier this spring, a new character joined Government Street’s lively collective of locally-owned specialty businesses. David Villa’s Las Brujas is located right smack in between two of the corridor’s most beloved institutions—Elsie’s Plate & Pie and Radio Bar, offering a specialty Colombian coffee program and bodega-style grocery. Named for Villa’s multiple generation family farm in Envigado, Colombia, which traditionally grew coffee bushes along with livestock, La Brujas specializes in air-roasted coffee, made with an alternative roasting process that preserves the beans’ clean, sweet notes. The menu features classic cappuccinos and lattes alongside a changing menu of signature drinks that make use of ingredients like maple cream, local pastured milk, homemade mocha, and scratch-made syrups. Served alongside each cup is an array of pastries and burritos from Lona Rai’s Kitchen and Bakery.
