The Lafourche Parish Public Library System provides countless opportunities to engage with literature, science, and community each month. Here are this month's highlights:
1,00 Books Before Kindergarten Kick-Offs: This national program puts parents to work, but promises remarkable results in brain development, creativity, and quality time spent with your little ones. Learn more and sign up at events held at parish branches throughout the month.
Snack Attack: Kids ages 7–13 are invited to join staff at Golden Meadow Branch Library (1403 Bayou Drive) in learning how to make delicious and easy snacks like apple nachos and s'mores trail mix. September 3 at 2 pm and September 23 at 4 pm. Registration is required at the library.
Science Experiments: Learn to make homemade ooblek, and how to make it dance at the Gheens Branch LIbrary (153 N. Leon Drive) on September 5 at 3:30 pm. Ages 8–16.
Line Dancing at the Library: Skilled dancers and double left-footers alike are welcome to a boogie session at the Larose (305 E. Fifth Street) Branch on September 4 & 18 at 1 pm and at the South Lafourche (16241 E. Main Street) Branch each Thursday in September at 2 pm.
Yoga at the library: Stretch and be centered on Mondays at 2 pm and Fridays at 3 pm at the Larose Branch Library (305 E. Fifth Street); on September 11 and 18 at 11 am at Gheens Branch Library (153 N. Leon Drive).
STEAM with snowballs: Code, construct, create, and cool down with STEAM resources at the library with an icy treat to top it all off. 4 pm on September 10 at the Golden Meadow Branch Library (1403 N. Bayou Drive). Ages 11–17.
Sculpture Workshop: Adults are invited to create their own cheese tray sculpture during a clay sculpting workshop with Erin McMahan-Palmer. 5 pm on September 23 at the Thibodaux Branch Library (705 W. Fifth Street). Registration required atthe library.
