Ibsen's A Doll's House was a controversial success at its premiere in 1879; today, Cité des Arts presents a contemporary adaptation by Amy Herzog, refreshing the story of a woman trapped within her role in society to resonate even more strongly with modern audiences. New York productions of this version were nominated for Tony awards and nabbed three Drama Desk awards, including Best Adaptation. Opening night, September 25, offers a gala at 6:30 pm before a 7:30 curtain for $35. Remaining shows are at 7:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays, 2 pm Sundays, and $25. citedesarts.org.
