Alexandria Museum of Art 933 Second Street, Alexandria, Louisiana 71301
"The Museum" in Alexandria is hosting a series of creative camps this month to engage the young ones. The final camp of the month is entirely virtual. All of the summer camps are half day programs: six to nine year olds meet 9am–12pm, ten to twelve year olds meet 1pm–4pm. $100 for AMoA members, $130 for non-members.
July 12–16: Art-O-Rama LIVE Summer Art Camp: Campers will enjoy five days of creativity with unique projects including Calder inspired sculpture, print making, solar graphics and more.
July 19–23: The Science of Art and Mind–with a little History LIVE Summer Art Camp: Young artists will explore famous artists and discover how they play and experiment with the elements to create their own unique works of art, inspired by nature and beyond. This will be an active week of stretching bodies, minds and hands.
July 26–30: The Art of Today: Discovering Contemporary Art LIVE Summer Art Camp: The Contemporary Art movement is generally defined as artwork produced during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. In this camp we will study a different contemporary artist each day, learn about their life and work, and make an art project inspired by them. The projects are Tim Burton self-portraits, Takashi Murakami color wheel flowers, Yayoi Kusama pumpkins, Louise Bourgeois spider sculptures, and Jean Michel Basquiat paintings.
July 26–30: Gallery Groove from Home (virtual): Enjoy AMoA Summer Camp from the comfort and safety of your home. Museum Educator, Cindy Blair will guide campers in creating original works of art inspired by art from the museum's exhibitions and even give campers a sneak peek into AMoA's art vault! Activities will include a balance of sculpture, drawing and painting! All supplies and materials will be mailed or hand delivered to the address provided during registration.
