The fourth installment in a series focused on Louisiana artist Angela Gregory, The Allen Monument displays artworks, memorabilia, and artifacts that provide insight into Port Allen's history and the Civil War's legacy. A likeness of Henry Watkins Allen (Port Allen's namesake) installed in 1962, the monument was initiated in response to the American Civil War Centennial. Gregory, who is known for architectural commissions involving the Louisiana State Capitol and other public monuments, was the first female sculptor in the state to achieve international recognition. westbatonrougemuseum.org.
