Art Rocks!: Violin-maker Hilton Lytle
to
Statewide Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Hilton Lytle
On Friday, July 17, at 8:30 pm and Saturday, July 18, at 5:30 pm, (episode #521), we remember Hilton Lytle of Monroe who built and repaired violins for almost half a century. In 2018, Lytle shared his secrets for creating pitch perfect fiddles and told us how he put instruments in the hands of as many young kids as he could. Curator Andrea Lipps guides us through an exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City. We meet Artistic Director Clyde Alafiju Morgan, who taught dance at the State University of New York African American Dance and Culture for over twenty years. And Flying Tiger Brewery showcases how they made the old Flying Tiger air base, their home brewery station.
Hosted by James Fox-Smith of Country Roads Magazine, Art Rocks! is LPB’s weekly series that spotlights artists, performance, culture, literature, history and the impact of art in our world. It features Louisiana stories, as well as segments from across the country. Current and past episodes are here: www.lpb.org/artrocks.
