Art Rocks: The LPB Art & Travel Auction
The Friends of Louisiana Public Broadcasting organization shares their annual televised Art and Travel Auction on October 22. The auction brings together hundreds of works of art by Louisiana’s best and brightest artists, then gives viewers the opportunity to bid to purchase them during the televised auction on LPB, raising funds for the purchase of programs for broadcast in the process. For art lovers, the auction also presents a rare chance to collect works by highly regarded artists at significantly reduced prices.
On the night of the broadcast (hosted by LPB president Beth Courtney and Country Roads' own James Fox-Smith), viewers will be able to bid by phone but for those that can't wait that long, or would like to preview the possibilities in advance, all works will be on display at LPB's studios 7733 Perkins Road, from October 2—22. The exhibit opens with the annual "Art Rocks" event—complete with performance art, live music, food and drinks—for artists, art lovers, and interested buyers on October 2 from 7 pm until 9 pm. Bidding on auction items will be available online at lpb.org from that day forward, or call in a bid during the televised program. (225) 767-4289.
