Don't lose the romance of actually going out to the theatre. Leave your Wi-Fi behind and head to downtown Baton Rouge. Each month, the Manship Theatre offers a slate of new-release documentaries. Here's what's in store for August:
August 2 & 3: The King: Eugene Jarecki's 2017 documentary takes a musical road trip across America in Elvis Presley's 1963 Rolls Royce to explore how a country boy lost his authenticity and became a king while his country lost her democracy and became an empire. 7 pm each night.
August 23: Three Identical Strangers: Follow the astonishing true story of three nineteen-year-old men who discovered they were triplets, separated at birth. 7 pm.
August 26: Rodents of Unusual Size: This documentary takes its name from the gutbusting film The Princess Bride, but giant swamp rats are no joke. Meet the defiant people at the edge of Louisiana fighting this unexpected invasion. 2 pm.
All films are $9.50 Visit manshiptheatre.org for tickets.
