The East Baton Rouge Parish Library's annual Author/Illustrator Program affords an opportunity for the exchange of ideas with prominent writers, artists, scholars, and performers of literature for children and young adults. This year, the the program features award-winning children's and young adult author Candace Fleming, who has written titles the likes of: Los Angeles Times Book Prize honored The Family Romanov: Murder, Rebellion, and the Fall of the Russian Empire; Boston Globe/Horn Book Award-winning biography, The Lincolns; bestselling picture book Muncha! Muncha! Muncha!; Sibert-Award-winning Giant Squid; and the beloved Boxes for Katje. A free family-friendly program will be held at 7 pm on October 1 with a signing to follow; pre-registration required; face coverings and social distancing required.
On October 2, teachers, librarians, writers, artists, and children's literature enthusiasts are invited to return at 8:30 am for a special writing workshop with Fleming. Day-of registration will begin at 8 am, along with a continental breakfast and other light refreshments. $25; $10 for students; face coverings and social distancing required.
