Build a garden to attract fluttering-by butterflies, birds, and bees
to
LSU Hilltop Arboretum 11855 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70810
The LSU Hilltop Arboretum in partnership with the Louisiana Master Gardeners of East Baton Rouge Parish will hold a Backyard Habitat Gardener Camp for 7-10 year olds. A young gardener will learn that the right native plants, arranged to mimic nature, will provide butterflies, birds, and bees all the attractions they need to be happy in your backyard or in a patio garden, and can then have the pleasure of watching a pageant of beautiful wings flutter by and drop in for a refreshing nectar luncheon. Kids will receive hands-on experience in how to maintain a pesticide free garden, and how to take action beyond their own backyards. Nutritious snacks will be provided throughout the day; parents provide a bag lunch and drink. Friends of Hilltop Arboretum $50; for others, $85 includes annual membership. 9 am–1 pm. lsu.edu/hilltop.
