Barbecue
The Fortress of Lushington 2215 Burgundy Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70117
Someone, perhaps everyone, is getting skewered in this family satire. In Barbecue, written by Robert O'Hara, the O'Mallery siblings (depicted as parallel black and white families) have determined an intervention is in order for Barbara, the baby of the family and the difficult one to boot. A barbecue will accompany, of course. Prepare for a dramatic twist at act-one's end, and don't look it up on Wikipedia like we tried to. The New Yorker heralded Barbecue as “... an American classic, or the kind of classic we need," and The Radical Buffoons' choice to stage it for their second-season opener is yet another example of the crew's commitment to brutal hilarity and cultural examination. 8 pm on Thursday—Saturday and Monday at the wonderfully named Fortress of Lushington. $25; $20 artists/seniors/students/teachers; $30 patron seating. radicalbuffoons.com.
