From parades to fireworks on the grand Mississippi, Baton Rouge will be bursting with patriotism this first week of July. Don't miss any of these great events around town this week. 

Kenilworth Independence Day Parade

July 3: Having trinkets, candy, and other priceless treasures thrown at us from passing floats is a time-honored tradition in Louisiana, but why not bust it out for America's birthday, too? Crowne Plaza: America's 250th Birthday Celebration 

July 3 & 4: Crowne Plaza Executive Center in Baton Rouge is partying big this year for America's 250th birthday, with a two-day affair featuring live music, buffets, and special room packages. USS KIDD’s Fourth of July Spectacular

July 4: Every year, for our nation's birthday, WBRZ lights up the sky above the Mississippi River. The fireworks can be viewed from anywhere along the levee, and from Downtown Baton Rouge, starting at 9 pm. downtownbatonrouge.org.  

Baton Rouge Concert Band

July 4: Head to the Main Library at Goodwood for a patriotic concert by the Baton Rouge Concert Band. Bring lawn chairs and refreshments to enjoy an upbeat selection of American classics to celebrate independence. 7 pm. brcb.org.

Fourth of July Extravaganza

July 4: Louisiana's own castle—or rather, Old State Capitol—hosts a free, family-friendly Independence Day celebration, complete with games, karaoke, crafts, and more. And don't miss the chance to view the original Louisiana Purchase document, on display through July 11. 9 am–5 pm. visitbatonrouge.com.

America 250 on the River Concert

July 4: Repentance Park throws a bash to remember in honor of America 250. This free concert features Amanda Shaw, Rockin Dopsie Jr., John Schneider, and Wayne Toups—but stick around after the music ends for fireworks over the Mississippi River at 9 pm. 2 pm–9 pm. visitbatonrouge.com.   

Fourth of July Fireworks Extravaganza at L’Auberge

July 4: L'Auberge Casino and Hotel hosts an Independence Day celebration in classic over-the-top style, with a free outdoor lawn party, live music featuring Jovin Webb, food trucks, and fireworks in partnership with Eagle 98.1. For $20, join the rooftop pool party experience for the best fireworks viewing around. 6 pm–11 pm. Fireworks begin at 9 pm. lbatonrouge.com. 

City of Walker July Fourth Celebration  

July 4: It's not just fireworks—in Walker, come for the Jeep Show and blessing of the Jeeps this July 4, in true Americana fashion. 5 pm–Dark. livingstontourism.com.
