LSU Hilltop Arboretum invites the community to celebrate Bat Week with Bats & Brews, an evening of science, stewardship, and locally crafted beer. Guests will learn about the bat species that call Louisiana home, including where they live, what they eat, and the remarkable adaptations that allow them to navigate and hunt in darkness. The program will also explore encounters between bats and people, the legal requirements surrounding bat removal in Louisiana, appropriate exclusion practices, and potential disease risks. Presenters will address common misconceptions about bats, the threats these often-misunderstood mammals face, and their important role in Louisiana’s ecosystems. Rally Cap Brewing Company will round out the evening with tastings of locally crafted beers, offering guests an opportunity to raise a glass to the unsung heroes of Louisiana’s night sky. 6 pm–8 pm. $15 students, Friends of Hilltop members, and Louisiana Master Naturalist members; $20 general public. 11855 Highland Road, Baton Rouge. Registration encouraged at lsu.edu/hilltop.
