Dust off your raygun and dry-clean your direwolf-skin cape: CONtraflow, New Orleans' only science fiction & fantasy convention run by fans for fans, celebrates its seventh year of imagined past and futures. Authors Yoon Ha Lee and Kimberly Richardson, will host panels to discuss their work and the future and relevancy of science-fiction and fantasy writing. Other panels will examine "Games for the Female Gamer," "Fun with Zombies," "The Foes of Doctor Who," and "Paranormal Self Defense," along with panels on aspects of writing and publishing. Renowned eccentric accordion player Valerie Sassyfras will make an appearance, and a benefit auction will benefit the Friends of the New Orleans Public Library and help to promote literacy. contraflowscifi.org.
