Discover Nature Series Presents Teri Gegenheimer: Overwintering Habitats for Beneficial Insects

Hilltop Arboretum's Discover Nature Series welcomes Teri Gegenheimer for a presentation on the fascinating world of overwintering insects and how gardeners can create landscapes that support these essential members of our ecosystems throughout the year. Insects are the unsung heroes of healthy, thriving landscapes, serving as pollinators, decomposers, and a critical food source for birds and other wildlife. As temperatures cool, many species seek refuge beneath leaf litter, inside hollow stems, under loose bark, and in other natural spaces that help them survive until spring. During this program, participants will learn about the diverse habitats insects depend on during the winter months and discover practical, attractive ways to incorporate these features into home landscapes. 6:30–8 pm. $15 public, $10 students and members of the arboretum or Louisiana Master Naturalists of Greater Baton Rouge, free for Magnolia Members and above. lsu.edu/hilltop.
